Everybody’s facing difficulties and challenges along the road, you’re not alone. Everyone wonders from time to time how to stay motivated.

Whether you are facing a rough time financially, having trouble with your family and loved ones, or experiencing challenges in your business or career.

It’s OK to feel frustrated and stressed, even terrified. You are only human.
Cheer up! Please have a look at these 5 great practical tips for staying determined during this challenging time.

1. Change your current state

“For every minute you remain angry,
you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

When things are not going well it’s very easy and sometimes inevitable to get sucked into a negative turbulence where everything seems a lot worse than it actually is.
As soon as you are noticing these bad thoughts, change your state!
Do something that you like; go for a run, go to the beach, listen to some fun music, eat something that you like, go to a movie.

It is very hard to do good work when you are not focused and stressed out. Do you really think that when you are frustrated and anxious you’ll get something done properly?
Change your state, restore your creative energy, return to your center, and connect to the why. Why are you are doing what you’re doing.

2. Take a break

“If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit.”

~ Banksy ~

When you workout, your rest is the time when your muscles are building up and becoming stronger. If you would workout all day long without giving yourself a proper rest, you’re not going to get stronger, you’re just going to injure yourself.
When you’re going through a difficult time there’s a lot of mental and emotional overload, that accumulates. If not taken care of, this accumulation can blow up.

Taking a break and letting go from time to time does not only feel good, but it is actually very effective in achieving your goals.
For one person a 15 minutes break is enough, and for another it could be a week. It doesn’t matter how much break time you need, just be responsible and stay in contact with your goals; allow yourself to have the rest that you need for charging your batteries.

3. Talk to someone

“And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders”

~ Hi Jude, by The Beatles ~

You don’t have to go through it all alone by yourself, what are friends and family for?
In fact, you are sabotaging your chances if you’re keeping it all to yourself. Even if you are the smartest person in the world, it’s always better to hear more opinions and get other people’s perspective as well; it might open your mind.
Furthermore, when you are challenged or even intimidated by something that you’re going through, it always looks a lot bigger in your head. Share it, shed some light on it, and you’ll see how it shrinks and how solutions begin to appear.

Imagine that your kids are going through something difficult, wouldn’t you want them to talk to you? Would you want them to go through it all by themselves? Wouldn’t you want to help them out?
Imagine you are talking to them, what would you tell them? Take the exact same things that you “told” them, and say them to yourself. You deserve it.

4. Focus on your target

“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.”

~ Bruce Lee ~

Whatever you’re focusing on you’ll get more of.
When a race car driver is taking a curve, he knows that he must focus on the straight road ahead, even if it’s very difficult not to look at the curve and wall behind it.
He knows that if he’ll focus on the wall he’s gonna hit it.

Road bumps and difficulties are a part of your path, there will always be ones. Be aware of them, but keep your focus and energy not on the wall that you’re afraid to hit, but rather on the straight road ahead that will lead you to your goal.
When you feel stuck and overwhelmed with you current circumstances, focus on a bright and better future, focus on your goal, not the wall.

5. Learn from the best in history

“If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants”

~ Isaac Newton ~

All great people have had difficulties in their path, and that is what made them so great.
And this is actually a very important aspect of your current frustration and stress: Every person that you admire and value have been through the same difficulties and feelings. You’re in good company!
The fact that you are feeling the way you do does not mean that you are weak, it means that you are challenging yourself, therefore you are growing.

Who inspires you?
Who do you admire?
What kind of achievement excites you?

Look back at history and pick any person, any person that did something that you find meaningful and valuable to the world and our society, look at their story and imagine yourself walking together along with them.

The challenges that they’ve gone through made them who they are, and your story is no different, it’s exactly the same with what’s you’re going through. It builds you.
See yourself through this person’s life-story perspective, appreciate your efforts and endeavor, appreciate your challenge, appreciate your path.
